As Creative as it can get

One thing i really admire is creativity and im gonna show you one that really sparked an idea in me when i saw this.
This is the Dasparkhotel in Austria. They have wonderful double cot rooms. Now you must be wondering what i mean by wonderful.
Well...check it out yourself

These rooms are mini drain pipes which are converted into hotel rooms.Whats cooler ? they have this "Pay As You Wish"policy which is pretty self explanatory.

Devil's Island

The Devil's Island is an island located off the cost of the French Guiana. Here was one of the most infamous and notorious French Penal colonies that ever existed during the late 1800- the early 1900's.The inmates of this prison comprised everything from political prisoners to hardened thieves and murderers .A great many of the more than 80,000 prisoners sent to the harsh conditions at disease-infested Devil's Island were never seen again. Other than by boat, the only way

out was through a dense jungle and very few convicts ever managed to escape.
If a prisoner was sentenced to a term of less than eight years, he had to spend an equal period of time in French Guiana; if his sentence was more than eight years, he had to remain in the colony permanently. After 1885, only criminals with sentences of more than eight years were sent to Devil's Island. Those prisoners who were liberated earned their passage home by working in the colony.
The climate in the settlement proved so unhealthful that many prisoners died. These factors combined to make Devil's Island known as a place from which there was no return. The river Maroni situated around the island is know to be infested with piranhas. No one knows how many convicts fell victim to the piranhas of the Maroni, but even this horror did not prevent them from trying to swim the river. Others were picked clean by army ants in the jungle; several were cannibalized by fellow escapees.
Now just like me you'd wonder...What a place this must have been to drive men into such desperate feats !
Check out the a few pics of the penal settlement.

HOW ha ha ha HAPPENS

Ever wondered how an individual ends up laughing when He/She comes across a good joke?

Well this is Pretty darn scientific and no...its not a joke

The brain receives the information from the left half of the brain and transmits it to the right half. The right frontal cortex delves into regions including those that store emotions and social memories, then it shuffles the information until it clicks and you get the joke.Next a structure deep inside the brain pumps out "Dopamine", a reward system that makes you feel good and laugh.

Now lets put you on a test to check if u got enough "Dopamine"

What did the brain say during its retirement speech?

A: Thanks For the memory

JEANS

I bet each of us have at least one pair of jeans.Do you know how that wonderful material became so famous and why it is so?

Here are a few interesting facts:
The word "jeans"comes from a material that was made in Europe named after the sailors from Genoa in Italy.
In the 18th century as trade and slave labor increased so did the usage of jeans among these people. The Jean cloth was completely made from cotton and the workers wore it because the material was very strong and did not wear out easily. It was dyed with indigo, a die taken from the plants in America thus giving the jeans a dark blue color.
In the 19th century (1848) gold was found in California commencing the famous gold rush. The gold miners wanted clothes that were tough and did not tear easily which happened often when they were at work.In 1853 a man called Leob Strauss moved out of New York to San Francisco and started a whole sale business.Later he changed his name to LEVIS STRAUSS.
The miners had a problem with the jeans as their pockets tore off easily.A man named Jacob Davis had the idea of using metal rivets or fasteners to hold the pockets of the jeans together.Unfortunately Jacob dint have the money to patent the idea.He then made a call to Levis and asked him if he could pay for the patent.Strauss accepted and started making copper-riveted jeans as they were called.

HOW JEANS BECAME POPULAR:
In the 1930's, Hollywood made lots of western movies. Cowboys - who often wore jeans in the movies-became very popular. Many Americans who lived in the eastern states went for vacations on 'dude ranches' and took pairs of denim 'waist overalls' back east with them when they went home.
Thereafter Rival companies like Wrangler, and Lee began to compete with Levis for a share of this market.

CABIN FEVER

GASP GASP!!
Ever felt restless or irritated when you are stuck up in a room for a certain period of time? I'm pretty sure everyone of us have been there at least once ,facing cabin fever. Its a slang term for a claustrophobic reaction that takes place when a person is isolated for an extended period of time

A very good movie i came across relating to this term is Stephen King's "The Shining" starring Jack Nicholson who faces this condition. Its a must watch.

another interesting fact is that it is also an event in summer when friends get together and drink excessively...very tempting isn't it?...lol
